Today I listened to the relaxation link again. The first time I tried, I could not think of anything besides the man talking. Today was somewhat easier, however I do better by first being instructed and then going through the steps on my own.
As I sit on my porch, close my eyes, enjoy the bird's soft sounds, I was then able to direct the feeling of blood flow. I pictured it going to my neck--since this is where I hold tension. It was very relaxing.
I make a point of spending 15 minutes in the morning to just sit quietly, before thinking on anything that arises in the day.
Happy Relaxing to all of you!! :-}
Becky,
ReplyDeleteI try to do the same - I have to go outside and get away from the computers, t.v.s, and kids to get a bit of silence. Not that I don't enjoy their company, but if you have kids, you know how hard it is to get them to understand you need a bit of peace! We usually have a hummingbird come visit us a few times a day in our backyard, where I go to get my peace. I love that little bird, moving so fast and looking so beautiful! As a side note, I did this second meditation - the colored light (chakras) one; I, too, get a little bothered trying to follow some disembodied voice on the comp for a relaxation session, but it's not too hard once you get into the swing of it! Peace!
Chris
Hi Becky. I think many of us have difficulty in the meditation exercises. It is hard to relax with someone talking in your ear, telling you what to do. I tend to focus on what he is saying, and not on relaxing. I also hold tension in my neck and shoulders. It is a great habit to start your day with some type of quiet time, to gather your thoughts and decide what kind of day you are going to make it.
